Geek Point Of View:

This is a very rewarding card for travelers with good credit or better who like staying at Hilton hotels but not enough to get a hotel credit card with an annual fee. The Hilton Honors Credit Card has no annual fee, no foreign transaction fee, and no shortage of rewards points.

Spending $1,000 in the first three months your account is open gets you 75,000 points – worth around $442 in Hilton reservations, per our calculations. Not only that, but cardholders also earn 7 points per $1 on Hilton stays, 5 points per $1 spent on gas and food, and 3 points per $1 on everything else. The thing you have to keep in mind about those earning rates, however, is that Hilton points are worth about half a cent each. Credit card points are usually worth around twice as much.

  • Earn unlimited Marriott Bonvoy points and get Free Night Stays faster.

Geek Point Of View:

The Marriott Bonvoy Bold™ Credit Card is the only Marriott rewards credit card with no annual fee. It is a good choice for Marriott Bonvoy members with good credit or better who don’t travel often enough to justify paying an annual fee for extra points and other cardholder perks.

There is a lot more to Marriott Bold than what it doesn’t have, however. The card does pack a fair amount of savings potential. New cardholders can earn an initial bonus worth nearly $300 in Marriott reservations by spending $1,000 within three months of opening an account. Cardholders also earn 1 – 3 points / $1 spent on purchases normally, with Marriott purchases getting the top rate and other travel expenses providing 2 points / $1.

Bonvoy Bold brings other benefits to the table, too. Perhaps most importantly, it gives cardholders enough Elite Night Credits (15 per year) to qualify for Silver Elite status in the Marriott Bonvoy loyalty program. Silver Elite status gets you bonus points on stays, a dedicated customer service line and priority late checkout, among other perks.

  • IHG Rewards Club Bonus points are redeemable at hotels such as InterContinental®, Crowne Plaza®, Kimpton®, EVEN® Hotels, Indigo® Hotels & Holiday Inn®

Geek Point Of View:

The IHG® Rewards Club Premier Credit Card is one of the better hotel rewards credit cards available right now, largely because of its extra-large initial bonus. New cardholders get a staggering 140,000 points in return for charging at least $3,000 to the card within three months of opening an account. That is worth around $952 in IHG reservations, according to our research, which would cover the card’s $89 annual fee for years.

The IHG Premier Card’s ongoing rewards rate for reservations at IHG properties is pretty eye-catching, too: 10 points per $1 spent. That applies to the many brands in the IHG family, including Crowne Plaza to Holiday Inn. The offer is not perfect, however. It’s not a good choice if you plan to carry a balance, and its non-hotel rewards could be better. But it’s definitely worth a close look if you regularly stay at IHG hotels and resorts.

  • Earn 2 Bonus Points per $1 spent at restaurants, on airlines tickets purchased directly from the airlines, on local transit and commuting and on fitness club and gym memberships

Geek Point Of View:

Spending at least $3,000 within three months of opening your Hyatt Credit Card will score you 25,000 Bonus points, plus an extra 25,000 for spending another $3,000 by the six-month mark. That’s a pretty good deal, considering that a Hyatt rewards point is worth almost 2 cents, according to WalletHub research. But it’s still not as attractive as the bonuses offered by the market’s best hotel credit cards, which give you as many as 13 free nights. Furthermore, the additional free night you’ll receive each account anniversary isn’t quite as attractive as the initial-bonus nights. This anniversary gift is only good at category 1-4 hotels, which are the least expensive locations in Hyatt’s portfolio.

Now for the rewards. You will earn 4 points per $1 spent at Hyatt properties with your Hyatt Rewards Card, plus 2 points per $1 spent on dining at restaurants, fitness club and gym memberships, airfare purchased directly from airlines, and local transit and commuting. And you’ll get 1 point per $1 spent on everything else. That might not sound like a lot compared to hotel credit cards offering 10+ points per $1 spent.

Geek Point Of View:

The Hilton Honors American Express Business Card is the best credit card for small business owners who spend a lot of time on the road and prefer to always stay at a Hilton hotel or resort. The Hilton Business Credit Card has a huge initial rewards bonus, giving 125,000 points to new cardholders who spend $3,000 within three months of opening an account. That bonus is worth roughly $688 in Hilton reservations on average, according to WalletHub’s calculations, enough to cover the cost of the card’s $95 annual fee for seven years. Plus, cardholders earn 12 points per $1 spent on Hilton purchases and 3-6 points per $1 on other expenses.

The Hilton Business Credit Card provides plenty of other ongoing perks, too. Cardholders automatically enjoy Hilton Honors Gold status, the benefits of which include complimentary breakfast, room upgrades when available, and free nights. The card also entitles you to 10 free airport lounge visits per year, with 1,000+ lounges to choose from worldwide. The Hilton Business Amex Card has a 0% foreign transaction fee, too.

What you don’t want to use the Hilton Business Amex for are purchases that you won’t be able to pay off entirely by the due date each month. The card has a high APR. You probably don’t want to apply if you have less-than-good credit personally, either. Personal credit history tends to matter more than business credit history with small business credit cards, and a 700+ score is recommended for high approval odds in this case.

  • 15 Elite Night Credits each calendar year.
  • Earn unlimited Marriott Bonvoy points and get Free Night Stays faster.

Geek Point Of View:

The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless™ Credit Card is the best-value Marriott credit card for frequent travelers. It offers more net rewards value over the first two years, after accounting for annual fees, than the other Marriott rewards cards for personal use, according to WalletHub’s calculations. The average person could earn roughly $2,800 in Marriott reservations in just two years if they made Marriott Bonvoy Boundless their everyday credit card.

The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card’s best features are its bonus rewards, the free night it provides after your account anniversary each year, and complimentary Silver Elite status. The rewards begin with an initial bonus of 75,000 points, which new cardholders can earn by making at least $3,000 in purchases within three months of opening an account. That could get you as many as 15 free nights in Marriott Bonvoy hotels and resorts. The bonus rewards also continue with an ongoing earning rate of 6 points per $1 spent at Marriott properties. That’s equal to nearly 6% back, considering the average value of Marriott Bonvoy points. All other purchases get you 2 points per $1, or nearly 2% back.

One downside of the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card is its $95 annual fee. However, paying that fee also gets you a free night, from the second year on. And that free night is worth up to 35,000 points, or roughly $347. So it’s a fair trade if you plan to stay at a Marriott soon. You’d better plan to pay your Marriott Boundless bill in full monthly, though, because a low APR is not among this card’s benefits.
